The Stock & Bond Markets - Rising interest rates around the world have impacted all global stock markets negatively with many investors concerned that inflation will stall or slow the economy. What had been a great first 4 months for the S&P and NASDAQ Indexes was followed by a bad 2 months with both indexes now in negative territory for the year. Defensive stocks (those that tend to be unimpacted by economic cycles like food & beverages, consumer staples and utilities) have been outperforming other industries lately proving, once again, that diversification is key to protecting values in difficult times so they're there to benefit from good ones. CELEBRATING 26 YEARS Since 1980, I have been providing financial advice to investors and I'm proud to say that our service and performance (see "Bottom Line" section on the right) continue to be superior to the market and our peers. Thanks for your support.
Real Estate Bubble? - Sales of new homes rose 4.6% surprising many economists although the median price of homes sold fell about 4.3%. The increase was attributed to incentives offered by home builders including rebates and free upgrades. Meanwhile, sales of existing homes declined which many attribute to a cooling market and a 37% increase in the inventory of homes for sale . Those for sale have been on the market for a lot longer than in the past couple of years. While mortgage rates rose to the highest level in 4 years, applications for mortgages decreased leading many to assume that increasing costs of owning and increasing supply will lead to a soft (better than a hard) landing.

While rates jumped in the past two years and further increases in rates seem likely. Still, bonds do pay a 300% premium to just leaving excess cash in money market accounts or CDs.

| The Bottom Line |
 |
| This is where we provide the performance of our conservative, moderate and aggressive portfolios and compare these to the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Indexes. While they are an important consideration, performance is only a portion of the evaluation investors should consider when evaluating investment management. Other considerations include the risk taken to generate the returns, the quality of the service, the reasonableness of the fees and, more important now than ever, the integrity of the investment manager.
