The Stock & Bond Markets - The adage to "sell in May and go away" is difficult when the market is as strong as it has been in the first 4 months of 2006. The logic of the adage is that $10,000 invested in the S&P 500 over the past 50 years during the six months between November and April would have grown to almost $500,000 whereas $10,000 would have fallen in value to around $9,500 if invested in the six months between May and October according to the Stock Trader's Almanac. And yet, as mentioned above, the market has been strong year-to-date both in terms of shaking off bad news (rising interest rates) and embracing good news (rising profits) so it's tempting to continue to enjoy the ride.
CELEBRATING 26 YEARS Since 1980, I have been providing financial advice to investors and I'm proud to say that our service and performance (see "Bottom Line" section on the right) continue to be superior to the market and our peers. Thanks for your support.
Real Estate Bubble? - New home sales rose a more than 13% in March, the biggest increase in sales since 2002, despite average 30-year mortgages increasing to 6.32%. While economists have been expecting a slow down due to rising interest rates, the increase shows surprising strength. A look behind the numbers does show, however, an increased supply of homes for sale, increased cancellations of orders for new homes resulting in builders discounting prices to move inventory and lower average and median prices.

| The Bottom Line |
 |
| This is where we provide the performance of our conservative, moderate and aggressive portfolios and compare these to the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Indexes. While they are an important consideration, performance is only a portion of the evaluation investors should consider when evaluating investment management. Other considerations include the risk taken to generate the returns, the quality of the service, the reasonableness of the fees and, more important now than ever, the integrity of the investment manager.
